Whose interests should be considered?

Managing your key stakeholders?

From the beginning of a project, the trick is too not just throw a scope of work together and then strive to complete it, but rather determine all the stakeholders and incorporate their needs into the project.

Successful outcomess require stakeholder analysis – It is best to engage your stakeholders at the beginning.

Project Stakeholders are individuals and organisations that are actively involved in the project, or whose interests may be positively or negatively affected as a result of the project and who may also exert influence over it as well.

This typically includes the Sponsor – the person that provides the money, the project manager, the customer, and performing organisation (enterprise where the work is being done) and project team members.

The needs of all your stakeholders should be taken into account on all projects The project management process entails

  • identifying all the stakeholders,
  • determine their needs and expectations,
  • managing and influencing these expectations to ensure a successful project.

The key to project satisfaction is a careful and accurate needs analysis starting at looking at what your stakeholders want. Therefore stakeholder management is a pro-active task.

Problems with stakeholders do not disappear. They only grow and become worse over the life of project.

It is critical to manage and unify the agenda’s of all interested stakeholders and start this process at the beginning.
